The length of available recoil pads (maximum available, 5 3/4 ") sometimes requires the new comb to be cut as in configuration "B". This maintains the same relationship of recoil pad placement to rib height as the original stock and maintains the toe of stock in the proper location. The shotgun will then "shoulder" properly and the head position will remain the same as it was originally. If a more head up or head down position is desired this relationship can be changed with the addition of an adjustable buttplate.
